When Kindness Overcomes Shame

Have you ever known someone who needed help with a problem, but fear or shame prevented them from seeking the help they so desperately needed? Many individuals in Mozambique suffer this dilemma, especially when it comes to the stigma associated with HIV. The fact that many health personnel do not adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality standards makes it even more difficult for individuals to be willing to seek treatment.

Thinking “Outside-of-the-Box”

One of the many goals of the ministry is the continuing education and professional development of our leadership team. By investing in them, we help to instill confidence in their own abilities and position them for personal and professional growth, which naturally makes for better leaders!

A Challenging Yet Fruitful Journey

This summer while in Mozambique, you may recall us planning a trip to Nampula, a northern province with a heavy Muslim population. Due to circumstances beyond our control, Jason and I were unable to make that trip personally, but shortly after our return to the U.S. we did send a two-man team to the area.

To Have the Heart of a Child

On July 31st, during our last Sunday service in Mozambique, we were attending one of the churches planted years ago by Pastor Abel Faz-Ver, our Mozambican Operations Director. This was also the church he currently leads as pastor. Jason had finished speaking, and they were taking the time to do some more corporate worship when Abel called up a young boy to the podium.

Take This People to the Far Ends of the Earth

America has always been seen as this beacon of light to the developing world. It’s the country young Mozambicans and other third world Africans dream of someday going to because it’s seen as the land of opportunity, the land of milk and honey. But what America has put on display for the world in recent years is far from being a beacon of light and hope.

The Rest of the Story

Two and half years ago, our current Children’s Services Director, Tony Gonondo was scheduled to come to America with the rest of our Mozambican team. When he was denied a visa to go, he was incredibly disappointed, but what he didn’t know is that God had another plan…

A Vision for the Future

When Jason was given the vision for this ministry, one of the first things God showed him in the dream was a farm complete with crops, chickens, and goats where, among other things, we could train farmers on more sustainable growing techniques that can help increase food security for their families. It’s a critical part of the overall vision for Hope of a Nation.
