This new year (2025) will mark another milestone for Hope of a Nation. Muma, one of our sponsored orphans from Zambia, finished high school and will be attending university at some point later this year. She is strongly considering pursuing a degree in business administration. While she isn’t the first orphan Hope of a Nation has sponsored, she is the first one of our sponsored children to finish high school and be preparing for higher education.
Muma completed the 12th grade in November. She had been looking forward to the graduation ceremony, but unfortunately, most of the graduates' families could not afford to chip in for it, so the school had to cancel the ceremony. Sadly, this is an all too common situation in underdeveloped African nations.
She didn't let her initial disappointment linger, however. Since arriving back home from boarding school, she has been spending time ministering to children in her surrounding neighborhood. This is something she decided she wanted to do, so she did it, on her own! She gathers them a couple of times each week in an empty school classroom to share with them about Jesus and His love for them. She shares Bible stories and even some entertaining movies and cartoons. Some are lessons and some are just for fun. Sometimes they play games too, like soccer.
Muma is a very kind, caring, and compassionate young lady. She puts others’ needs before her own, and she is considerate of others’ feelings. We love her heart for her loved ones, for God, for children, and for other people in general, and we can’t wait to see God’s plan for her life unfold! We know she has a bright future ahead of her, and we believe that God will use her in a mighty way to bring Him glory!
