Thinking “Outside-of-the-Box”

By

One of the many goals of our ministry is the continuing education and professional development of our leadership team. By investing in them, we help to instill confidence in their own abilities and position them for personal and professional growth, which naturally makes for better leaders!

Another goal is to make our ministry’s work in Mozambique as self-sustaining as possible. We don’t know what the future holds or what changes will take place in world political climates, so we want to prepare and position our team to be able to continue the work of the ministry without being solely reliant on first world intervention. Our new farming project, once fully developed, is one of the ways we can help ensure that sustainability.

God’s timing never ceases to amaze us! We’ve shared with you in previous emails how God brought things and people together in relation to our farm. Another incredible “timing” thing that transpired just before we returned from Mozambique was that we became aware of a 9-week entrepreneurial training program offered by Sinapis and hosted by our friends at Equip Mozambique in Beira. Sinapis empowers entrepreneurs professionally and spiritually using training and a global support network so they can grow to the next level and transform the world around them.

One of the ways to help our farm become self-sustainable is to run it like a business. For that, we need out-of-the-box thinking. So, we sent our Farm Manager Joseph Nogueira to this entrepreneurial training. After the first class, he reported back to us “My first Saturday was amazing. I hope this course will give me the tools needed to grow in business, bring solutions to the clients, equip others, share the love of the Lord, and help those who are in need!

It seems the Lord is already establishing connections too. A few attendees of the class are local restaurant owners. Joseph seized the opportunity to share with them about our farm, the produce we will be growing, and the meat we will be raising, and they expressed interest in purchasing from our farm’s surplus. Only God knows what other connections he will provide and what ideas he’ll give Joseph through this entrepreneurial training!
