Hope of a Nation’s medical outreach in Mozambique is not just being strengthened by trained professionals. It is being strengthened by families serving together.
Jossias and Lourenco are more than graduates of our higher education assistance program. They are husbands, leaders, and men who are building their homes and their futures around service to Christ and their communities. Both young men were raised in the same orphanage and once stood as boys in need of hope. Through faithful support and education, they became trained nurses. Today, they serve on the front lines of medical outreach, bringing compassionate care into rural villages where access to healthcare is limited or nonexistent.
Jossias completed nursing school at the end of 2023 and now serves as a nurse practitioner on our outreach team. He travels into remote communities, treating patients, educating families, and offering both physical care and spiritual encouragement. Lourenco, our first graduate through the program, now serves as a director at a public health clinic while also supporting our outreach initiatives. Their journeys are testimonies of transformation, from orphanhood to leadership.
But the story does not stop with them.
We are especially grateful to share that their wives, Sara and Aventina, are now serving alongside their husbands. Both women hold nursing certificates and have practical clinical experience. They are volunteering part-time in our medical outreach, working hand in hand with their husbands to extend care deeper into the communities we serve.
There is something powerful about families ministering together.
When husbands and wives serve side by side, it strengthens not only the outreach but also the witness. In many of the villages we visit, women feel more comfortable speaking openly with female medical workers. Mothers are more at ease discussing the health of their children. Elderly women receive care with dignity. At the same time, families see a living example of unity, partnership, and Christ-centered marriage.
These two young families are now modeling hope in a way that reaches beyond medicine. They are showing what restoration looks like, lives once marked by loss now building stable homes, serving others together, and raising the next generation with purpose.
Access to basic healthcare remains one of the greatest needs in Mozambique. Illnesses that are easily treated elsewhere can become life threatening without access to care. Our medical outreaches meet urgent physical needs while also sharing the love and hope found in Jesus.
None of this happens in isolation.
Your faithful partnership makes it possible for entire families, not just individuals, to step into their calling. Your generosity helped educate these men. Your support now equips these husband and wife teams with the tools and resources needed to serve with excellence and compassion.
Because of you, healing is reaching villages.
Because of you, families are being strengthened.
Because of you, hope is multiplying.
Thank you for standing with us, and with these young families, as together we bring healing, dignity, and the love of Christ to Mozambique.
